MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 11-02-21
An entry of 1300 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 10th February returned a slightly firmer trade for fat hoggets. Cull ewe trade and breeding sheep sold in a steady demand.
The 800 hoggets included a large entry of heavy pens which sold to a top of 523p per kilo for 24.1k @ £126 each from an Armagh farmer and for 24.5k @ £128 each from a Dungannon producer. All good quality heavy hoggets sold from 500p to 520p per kilo and from £125 to £131 per head. The entire entry of heavy hoggets averaged 26kilos @ £126.40 each 486p per kilo.
Good quality middleweight hoggets sold from 510p to 570p per kilo for 20k @ £114 each from a Cullyhanna farmer followed by 555p per kilo for 21.1k @ £117 each from a Loughbrickland producer. Top price for middleweight hoggets £125 each for 23.2k 539p per kilo from a Keady farmer. Horned hoggets sold to 516p per kilo for 21.5k @ £111 each.
Good quality cull ewes sold from £85 to £124 each. Plainer ewes from £60 to £80 each.
A full yard of ewes + lambs sold in a steady demand with good quality doubles sold from £200 to £255 each. Singles sold to a top of £265 each with several more from £180 to £240 each.
